truth as it is

So, im a big lurqer online. I like lurqin on other peoples blogs and myspaces and don't act like you don't do it on your free time either. And the purpose of my blog is to share what i think is important (or not important) to my friends. And I was reading my Ading Tash's blog.. who, by the way, is such a talented writer, singer, & little sister (and well on her way to becoming an incredible nurse) ... I read this on her blog. And I thought it'd be good to put it on mine to share with you, too.

So here is an entry from hers entitled "You're Not Going to Like This."
--By Natasha Mendez

You’re probably not going to like what I’m about to say, so if you’re very sensitive I suggest you navigate away from this page.

convar301

So check this out. Our divorce rate is going at 63% right now. That means that 6 out of 10 married couples are getting divorced within 10 years. 10 years. Kids are born within 10 years, and then they have to deal with the stress of choosing sides– which parent they should live with, and which parent should visit on the weekends.

burger-kingedit

“Til death do us part” is losing its meaning, and we’re all getting jaded.

But here’s what I’m preaching. There is no one and only. There is no single person out there that was specifically made for you and you ONLY– to fall in love with and make a life with.

kissing-point

Humans are adaptable beings. We can get with anyone! We are also sexual beings, and we make mistakes.

HUMANS ARE NOT MEANT TO SPEND THEIR LIFE WITH ONE PERSON AND ONE PERSON ONLY. WE ARE GENETICALLY ENGINEERED TO FAIL.

0002006v

But that’s the thing. We’re human. The relationships we make have problems. PLENTY OF THEM.

So on the surface, at face value.. we can’t be faithful.

forbidden-kiss

Which is why there are supposed to be 3 people in a relationship.

You, Them, and God.

The ability to remain faithful and to stay in one relationship is what makes us divine. It is through divinity that “til death” is possible, because death is the only real and true separation from our world and the afterlife.

couple-fight

come on Marj!!

And the reason why relationships are failing, is because they are failing to believe that spirituality and religion play a vital role in their success.

How can you give yourself to someone else when you cannot acknowledge that life has been GIVEN to you?

The truth is.. the one and only is the one through which you can MAKE it work. It’s not about connections, interests, hobbies, social status– although those can lead to it..

old-couple

This is why we find the oddest couples getting together and making it work. The hot guy with the plain girl, or the plain guy with the hot girl.
The shy and reserved with the loud and outgoing.
We’re talking about something that’s bigger than what’s superficial.

It’s about how much you are willing to give to each other, and to devote to God.

old-couple-kissing

Through love we get forgiveness, patience, understanding, and faithfulness.

It all goes hand in hand..

embrace2

Because God is love.
Think about it.

if heaven and hell decide

that they are both satisfied.

so good!! =)

LOLLLL

your dash

So, about a month ago.. my friend Christian took me to go to his church. Mind you, he's Christian and I grew up with 12 years of Catholic school under my belt, and a very devout family. This was my first time ever going to a Christian church. I was actually very excited, I wasn't sure what to expect so I tried to stay as open-minded as possible. We went to a small, still growing, Christian service that was held at an elementary school up in Castaic.

The people were nice, and the music was great. It was really refreshing experiencing something new for once. The pastor was such a great speaker, and ngl some of the things he said really hit home for me. And I still haven't forgotten some of the things I've learned from the service (because they call it service, not mass).

Anyway, he had a powerpoint type thing during his sermon (is that the right term?).. And he brought up a picture of a tombstone.. Why?

When someone dies, they get a tombstone. And on the tombstone, you find the birth date, and the date of death. Great.. But what does that say about their life? Do the dates mean anything? No. What really matters is what is in between the dates.. the dash.

If I die tomorrow, what will people say about me? What have I done with my dash?
I don't know what He has planned from me. I could be taken away this very second, tomorrow, next week, next year, or in 50 years. But what can my dash say for me? "April, she was a bitch.. I didn't really talk to her because __________"

Granted, there are people who I don't get along with or simply just don't like me. Fine, but I can live with knowing there things I am blamely for, and yes there is blame to share. But in the end, it really DOESN'T matter. does it? (brownie points to whoever can tell me where I got that) I would rather be remembered as someone who didn't hesitate to give, selflessly, and was able to forgive myself and others for things that aren't worth fighting over. I don't want to be remembered as someone who was judgmental or hypocritical. I want to be remembered for being able to get along with everyone and making good choices.

So, as hard as that might be.. I'm going to try to do it. No one's perfect, and hopefully I could catch myself before I make some dumb decision like fighting with a friend for no good reason. Because reality knows, I could be a bitch, I'm sarcastic, I'm human (even Edward understands) but for the most part I can say that I have good intentions. Could possibly take me a while, but hopefully I'm headed in the right direction.. Because I think for the past couple of years I've not done much with my dash, except keep to myself and to what I know.

I think I'll try to spend more of my weekends at home than out partying, read more books instead of myspace, learn more pharmacology instead of gossip, drink more water instead of alcohol, and have more good clean fun. And like they say, hate is easy.. love takes courage. Do something different this year:

instead of fighting, forgive someone you're fighting with.. See how THAT makes you feel.

This was a big part of my New Year's Resolution... Sure, I won't be perfect by the end of 2009.. But I want to be able to say that I've changed in a very good way a year from now.

At the end of the sermon, the pastor prompted us with a question to leave to think about.. "What are you doing with YOUR dash?"

I know I post these cheesy ass posts about life and school and whatever it may be, and you guys want pictures & jokes & stories of my drunkenness or something. But this is something I found important to me, so maybe if you got bored through this one..Thanks for reading anyway, I hope you can get something from it.

Have a good week =)

GENIUS

for those of you who don't know. i love commercials. most of my sentences start with.. "have you seen that one commercial where...."

well, i was looking on my dear friend shelly's blog the other day and found this commercial she found on perez. i guess it was in the uk for t-mobile.
and it is SOOOOO good, genius commercial! you woulda never thought it was for a phone company. but its so fun and energizing and it really makes you wish life would break out into song & dance just like any musical. (did i mention i love musicals too?) -_- nerd alert.

anyway, i couldn't help but want to share it with you who might not know shelly.

but here it is!!

30 things 30 tags

So I've been getting into facebook lately because of my cousins and family mostly.. But it's a good way for me to KIT with my friends from high school as well. Anyway, they have little note things that are equivalent to bulletins on myspace. I got this one where I had to write 30 random facts about me and tag 30 people. I thought it'd be fun to share on here too. hahaha, have fun.

1. I need to wear socks when I sleep. I know, it's weird. And most people can't sleep with them on because they like their toes free. But if I don't sleep with my socks on, there is a 90% chance I will wake up with a sore throat.

2. I walk around when I brush my teeth. Yeah, I'll do a little tour around the house. Probably subconsciously to make sure I'm doing it for a good amount of time. Sometimes I have to run to the kitchen sink to spit some out there's too much in my mouth (that's what she said), or if something is funny on TV I have to run to the bathroom.

3. The wallpaper in my room is still from when I was a baby. HAHA, it really is so embarrassing. I was supposed to paint it back in high school, like any normal bedroom. But I graduated and moved out into the dorms and then we never went through with it. So now I'm 21 years old with pink flowers on my wall and a ridiculously crowded room with pack-ratty things like old birthday cards, posters, gift bags, and yearbooks. I need to do something about it, but I'm never even home anymore.

4. I grew up as an only child, so I couldn't play a lot of boardgames.. well because, I kinda had no one to play with on a daily basis. So instead, my parents bought me a lot of jigsaw puzzles.. And so that's what I did. I was pretty good, but don't ask me to do one now because it'd probably take me forever.

5. I had a crush on Kermit the frog & all of the ninja turtles.

6. Speaking of ninja turtles.. growing up.. when kids asked me what my name was.. I'd be like "April" and they would say.. "April O'Neal"? So one time I thought & was fully convinced that "O'Neal" was supposed to go after April..so, naturally I would introduce myself as April O'Neal McFarland. I was an idiot child.

7. When I'm parking my car, I have to turn down the music.

8. I have a great fear of rubber balloons. Not so much the mylar ones (the metallic fun ones..) I get goosebumps when i hear them rub together, I feel like they're gonna attack me and pop all over my face.

9. I roll my eyes, a lot. It's a rude habit, really. But really, don't take it personally. It goes well with my sarcasm that runs in the family. (You can thank my beloved cousins Marne, Gayle, and Gina, hehe).

10. I cannot live without chapstick. I like the waxy feel, so don't humor me with your lipgloss. Preferably Burtsbees or Chapstick Mint flavah. When I don't have chapstick with me, you'll probably hear me say "Do you have chapstick?" or "Can I borrow your chapstick?" a good 8237 times. Without fail.

11. There's a part of me that could possibly be stuck in the year 2000, because I have 13 year old tendencies. Such as being an avid Disney Channel watcher, High school musical singer, Jonas Brother lover, and Twilight reader.

12. I'm an annual pass holder at disneyland. It's my second year. And I think last year (2008), I've gone more than 30 times. That's more than some people go in their lifetime. Am I showing off? mm.. Yeah, I am.

13. When I was younger, I hated eggs for some reason. So I would lie to whoever took care of me and said that I was allergic so they wouldn't cook it for me. I didn't even know what allergic meant. (Now that I think of it, I think I was a compulsive liar as a child.)

14. The last time I had a 'boyfriend' was.. Lester Llamas circa sophomore year in high school after being with him for 3 weeks. LOL, sorry Lester. Do I want one? Sure. Do I have time (or money, for that matter)? Nope. And basically I've been single my whole life, the future looks promising.

15. I wish my Mom put me in acting/dancing/chorus/vocal classes when I was younger. If MTV's Made asked me to be made I'd ask them to put me on Broadway in a heartbeat.

16. I wish I stayed into photography after I graduated high school. I won a couple of photography awards for our art show senior year, and I haven't touched a camera since then. Well, it was kind of a joke-class, but I had so much fun. Alfred & Geo even came to the art show and stole my Blue ribbons and put them on their cars. I probably suck real bad now because everyone's owning each other with their SLR and photoshop skills and whatever you call them.

17. I wrote Kevin Torres a letter in high school, so therefore we aren't friends anymore. (Please refer to his 30 notes).

18. I'm so over my sidekick, but I'm not sure if I could live without it (Does that make sense?).. or have the patience to adapt to a new phone.

19. I rarely wear heels. If I do, its most likely in Vegas or an occasion where I don't have to stand for a long period of time.. like dinner. And especially because I'm like the hulk next to my 4-5 feet tall friends AND family.

20. Two of my brothers lived with me for a little while when I was growing up. One thing I'll always remember about my Kuya RJ was that he was insanely obsessed with Joe Montana of the San Francisco 49ers. And I think I've been obsessed with that name ever since because it stuck in my head, so I've decided to name of of my sons Joe and my daughter Montana. (Kuya, you're probably laughing at me right now.)

21. I've heard I'm an easy person to shop for. Because I walk around saying "Oh I want that.. Oh, i LOVE that!.. And I want this, and this!" I'm not sure if I'm subconciously telling people what I want or because I grew up a spoiled brat.

22. I have an incredibly obsessive personality. When I like something. i REALLY like it. Like going to Disneyland three times a week for a whole month, or camping out to see the Jonas Brothers (Oh God, did I really just share that?), memorizing Wicked and seeing it 4 times, or having my wall covered in JTT/Spice Girls posters and being late in the morning so my Mom could buy me NSYNC CD the day it came out. Wow, I was a spoiled brat.

23. I'm a pin trader at Disneyland.

24. Hazel and I probably text each other 700 times a day back and forth.

25. Grace, Rachel, and I used to play this game on top of Grace's balcony in old her house in Vegas where we sold ice cream over the counter and we pretended our number one customers were T-Boz, Chili & Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez (rest in peace, baby girl.. cue the waterfalls music). We were all attached to the hip and our Mothers would dress us all alike.

26. When I was younger, I told my mom that..."When I grow up, I want to be a girl."

27. I could probably eat cheese all day long.

28. I have five (rather small) tattoos that my parents don't know about, and I trust that no one on facebook will tell them. I used to have my belly & tongue pierced but my mother cried for me to take them out, and I did. And just recently, I decided to get my septum pierced. I'm not much of a rebel child, really. I love my Mom to death, even though she'd probably kill me if she knew bout any of the above. I just I think I'm slightly a masochist. =/

29. Kim has a slambook of when we were freshmen in high school and I signed it and one of my my fantasies was to go to Disneyland matching clothes with my boyfriend. How embarassing. I was so azn.

30. I really hate couples at Valley College because all they do is PDA, with the guy carrying the purse in one hand and his other arm is around her waste, all while walking and sharing a pair of ear pieces to an ipod.

just pretend

so i've had some pretty boring posts lately because of all the ranting and life changing attempts i've been trying to make to my own life. and no one wants to read that shit all day long. so ill post some pictures of some pictures of what i've been up to lately.

i've had a not-so-bad start to my year. besides the whole school dilemma i'm pulling my hair out for.. everything else is pretty chill.

anyway.. i'm off for another week because of our semester break, woohoooo. i came down on thursday night and basically spent my whole weekend with nessie. did the ush. had a little sleepover on thursday night, basically slept all day on friday. friday night we went to the griffin with mel james mike and xtian. it was fun, i've been there before but didn't stay for too long. so this time i got to drink and its a chill place to go. and drinks are superdoops cheap! it was fun hanging with mel after so long. me and v were talking about how a couple years ago, i used to go to mel's house every single day to do absolutely nothing. those were good times. and now seeing him is less of an occurance, but its always good times with him! so thanks for the drinks/driving on friday mel!

last night, we went out for angeli's 23rd birthday. we went to this club called social. i've heard of it before but that was it. and so last night was my first time, and it was a REALLY nice place! pretty bouj & drinks were kinda pricey. but it was a good time. everyone was drunk and had a good time. here are some sticky picky.

nessie & i with my sex hair

happy 23rd yummy!!

drunk ass pat and his favorite hynas

i love when they come out and play! =))))

melly mel

ummm... let me know when my best friends are a bunch of creepers.

big question: what am i doing in this picture?
no, this is not photoshopped. and yes i had a good time.
so suck it.

and also did i also say that my new years resolution is to be a good friend.

keep the keepers, lose the creepers.
don't keep your 'enemies closer', thats called being fake.
and i'm not about it.
if i didn't. add that on there.

on another note, i hate when people expect a fucking cookie for being fake.. you're saying hi to the wrong person and for the wrong reason. be real & stop giving yourself credit, its embarassing.

=P anyway, see you at bigwangs on tuesday

when we're bored

in with the new

so everyone's been talking about new year's resolutions and i haven't really thought of my own. i think part of it is i'm scared of committing to something, then not going through with it in the end.. then people will end up holding it against me when, really i've already beaten myself up for it. but i guess this is the only way i can see if i can hold myself accountable for the things i promise to do for myself.

the past couple months have been... mmm.. not so good. and i think im referring to school amongst all things. i won't lie, i've been getting caught up in party mode, the exact thing i wanted to stay away from. it was a different kind though. it wasn't the "party to party" deal. it was.... "its friday, and ive worked hard all week".. when. i really should have been "it's friday.. more time to catch up". FUCK! whats that shit called again? oh yes, priorities. oh YES, procrastination! ugh, really? those two words really love haunting me. all the studying that i have done, wasn't enough. i basically studied monday through friday and then left it all at friday. i've taken my weekends for granted and ran home every chance i got. fuck being homesick, because its taken its toll on my grades. for some reason, this semester got me bad. i dont know if i was sad because i was stressed about school. or stressed out about school because i was sad.

my new years resolutions
do this (new) semester the right way.
study, study more than i think i should.
find the good in san diego (god, help me)
lose this ridiculous weight that i've gained.
cut down on the things that are killing me. (alcohol, smoking, and the illegals)
learn how to cook.
save money, less spending.
stop going out when i know i don't have money.
start to pay hazel back.. in churros? or 20 dollars a month. LOL
less texting more talking

okay. less stressing out, more positive.
i can do this! this semester will be good.
good luck w. everyone's resolutions
